How We Got Started The gift store in Otter Lake dates back to the early 1900's. Formerly known as the Standard Supply Co. It was a 3 generation family owned business. Back in the heyday Otter Lake was quite a happening place as many of my elderly customers reminisce. We are located on the main thoroughfare in the Adirondack Mountains on NYS route 28 (southwest foothills). My husband Brian and I purchased the property back in 2002 renaming it to Otter Lake Rustics at Standard Supply and have been running it as a small family owned business ever since. The buildings on the property and the old family homestead were in need of some major renovations. So...... we rolled up our sleeves and began the loooong process of renovations I don't think they will ever end. We have evolved into quite a unique gift shop which includes rustic furnishings, some antiques, hand crafted items giftware outdoor furniture and our custom carved wood screen doors . We still have quite a bit of the old memorabilia like the silk screens used to produce the pennants that we still sell today. The Kodak glass plates that were used to develop the linen postcards that were stored away for decades and we still sell today all with images of yesteryear and in mint condition. And a collection of other things to be added later. The Adirondack Life magazine has printed several excerpts referencing our gift shop and Otter Lake. Inserts will be added to this page at a later date for all you history buffs. Thanks for viewing our history
